A Búcsú Yangtól azt a kérdést pedzegeti, hogy egy programozott szolgáltatásként funkcionáló robot mennyire tekinthető családtagnak, mit eredményez, ha kikerül ebből a családból, és nem utolsósorban: maga a robot hogyan éli ezt meg. A klasszikus kérdést egy család életére és reakcióira összpontosítva mutatja be. Cselekménye fordulatok nélküli, a film a szűkös párbeszédekkel és Jake kutakodásával mozdul előre. Nem eredeti, de átélhető, igényes, helyenként kicsit túlművészkedett filmes hozzájárulás a sci-fi egyik legrégibb témájához.

Csendes, sötét, lassú és érzelemmentes. Az első fél óra várakozásteljes nulla, azzal, ami utána következik pedig nem sikerült egy hullámhosszra kerülnöm és azonosulnom. Egyedül az esztétikáját voltam képes befogadni és értékelni, mivel valóban gyönyörű film.

Vizuálisan nagyon szép, a teával kapcsolatos filozófiai dialógusok tetszettek, de nem igazán értettem, mire akart kifutni.
