Wilker Flores: Death metal originated in Norway and Sweden. First in Norway then it spread to Sweden. It is a merging of rock and punk with classical music. For example, if we look at the change of notes, or chords in classical music from Mozart, Chopin, and all those other big names of classical music the changes are the same as we find in death metal or black metal. I think the drum beats in death and black metal are derived from african beats. If we went to the middle of the country to watch the rituals around bonfires and the dances of the Tchigange, the sound of the drum beats and the rhythms they use are the same ones you find in death metal. So death metal was also born in Africa.
